BAD BOY, BAD BOY, WHATCHA GONNA DO...

U2's manager Paul McGuinness has been seriously hurt in a fireworks accident at a house party in Ireland. Frontman Bono relayed the situation to an audience at the Q Magazine Awards in London late last week. Seems that the rocket blew up in his hands (ouch!) and that McGuinness will need skin grafts on his face and arms. According to Bono, most of the work needed is strictly reconstructive, and the manager avoided what could have been much more serious injury. Still, says Bono, "We're all worried about him. I've visited him and he looks pretty awful. He's conscious and typically trying to play the whole thing down. He looks as though he's been blown up, but spent most of the time asking how our next album was going." Source: Cybersleaze

SUPERSUCK-FEST IN STUDIO

The new Supersuckers album is turning into a mind-boggling collaborative effort, according to the fine folks at Allstar. Seems that frontman Eddie Spaghetti has brought in the likes of Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings and ex-Breeder Kelley Deal. Deal and Spaghetti, it turns out, will be doing a cover of that woeful Best Kissers In The World hurtin' tune, "Hungover Together". The whole schebang is not expected until early 1997 on Sub Pop.

IF A SEX PISTOL FALLS IN THE FOREST...

Like Lenny Kravitz says, 'it ain't over till it's over'. The Sex Pistols have just finished touring Australia and are now about to play three sold-out shows at the Budokan in Japan. One of those shows will be aired live on Japanese tv, then there will barely be time for little Johnny to rest before they're off to South America for their 'supposed' final live show in Chile on December 8th. Unless, of course, Rotton runs out of money for hair dye, in which case who knows? Filthy lucre, indeed.

I WA-ANT YOUUUU TO BUY MEEEE

Well, it had to eventually happen. There's a new Cheap Trick tribute record in the work. Entitled Cheap Shots, the collection features contributions from the likes of Joey Ramone ("I'll Be With You Tonight"), Everclear ("Southern Girls") and a brand-spankin' new supergroup of sorts called Cockpit, featuring Hole's Erik Erlandson ('cause god knows that band ain't doing much lately...) Red Kross' Steve McDonald and the Posies' Ken Stringfellow for that classic rawk track, "Surrender". The collection is expected to hit shelves end of January.
