SHAKUR SAGA CONTINUES

A disturbing rumour surfacing out of the Tupac tragedy is that Shakur's murder was possibly related to the fact that he was looking to leave his label -- ironically called Death Row Records -- and set out on his own. According to a quote obtained by Sleaze online,"He was trying to do it [leave Death Row] on the down low. He knew he couldn't do something abruptly because it could mean death." Source: Sleaze

OH MY GOD NOT ANOTHER OASIS STORY!!! PART 2!

Oasis broke their rather enjoyable cone of silence by issuing a statement to the press regarding the group's premature cancellation of their U.S. tour. Memorize it; you'll be quizzed tomorrow. ""The reason for the premature return of the band has nothing to do with recent UK tabloid hysteria (e.g. poor ticket sales, Liam's fiancee Patsy Kensit, sibling rivalry or internal differences). It was a decision taken solely by Noel Gallagher on behalf of his four friends. We look forward to presenting our fans with a new album in the summer of '97." Huh? Whaa? What's that kooky Brit expression? Bollocks, is it?

SURE THE MUSIC'S COOL, BUT DOES THE VIDEO ROCK??

The Much Music Video Awards are airing tomorrow -- don't forget to set your VCR's for 8 p.m. Eastern Time, 5 o'clock Pacific and six or seven at places in between. (Duh!) If you'd like to check out who is up for what in which category, head to the MMVA site. Go on...click here --->MMVA

NICE TO ROB YOU, BAY-BEE

Crappy news to report about 54.40; the band had the first break-in in their 15 year history yesterday. Seems that all of the guitars and amps were taken in the Toronto robbery. According to their manager Alan Moy "it wasn't that the equipment was particularly expensive, it was that Neil's telecasters were his signature guitars; the ones he started the band with." The quartet will be renting their gear for the next few dates on their cross-Canada tour.

BEAUTY FROM TRAGEDY

Fans of The Tear Garden will be thrilled to know that the brand new album "To Be An Angel Blind, The Crippled Soul Divide" (on Nettwerk) is an incredible piece of "fragility" and "power"...just like the bio says. For the unfamiliar, The Tear Garden is a 13 year old project based on a musical acquaintanceship between Skinny Puppy member cEvin KEY and Legendary Pink Dots vocalist Edward Ka-Spel. This new album is an amazing piece of work, perfect for those who find solace in the darkness.
